MONUMENTS

Forthcoming Fall 2025

MONUMENTS is a new exhibition co-organized by LAXART and The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA) that will open in Fall 2025 at LAXART and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

Curated by LAXART Director Hamza Walker, internationally renowned artist Kara Walker (no relation, that they know of), and MOCA’s Senior Curator, Bennett Simpson, MONUMENTS will feature decommissioned Confederate monuments displayed alongside existing and newly commissioned works of contemporary art.

MONUMENTS will be accompanied by a substantial scholarly publication and a robust slate of public and educational programming.
